We at the Sacramento RiverTrain are very excited to announce our $2 million train renovation and track restoration project. We are passionate about preserving this piece of American history for our local communities, and wanted to share a bit about what we are doing and why it matters.
The growth of railroads was key to the industrial revolution and helped propel us to a global superpower. Yet, while automobiles and airplanes change nearly every decade, trains seem almost unchanged during the past century. As a result, Americans celebrate and take delight in the seemingly ageless nature of railroads in songs, literature, art and film.
That rich rail history is serving as the roadmap for our current renovations. We've enhanced the interior of the train cars, harkening back to the proud legacy of passenger rail travel by selecting timeless fabrics, tin-inspired ceilings, and wood-inspired finishes. For the exteriors, we are painting the entire stock traditionally and tinting the windows for the added comfort of our passengers. To make all of this come together, we've enlisted local design firm Lorain & May Design Associates.
Another big factor in the quality of our experience is the condition of the rail line. Our century-old track and 60-year old railroad cars can fall into disrepair without ongoing care. This restoration is crucial to enabling everyone to experience and continue enjoying this unique family venue.
The renovation is expected to be completed this August and will not affect our regularly scheduled trips. For sneak peeks at our progress, check out our Facebook Page, Instagram, and YouTube.
Your feedback has been vital to helping us make these improvements, and by riding our trains you are helping to preserve this piece of American history. We can't wait for you to see them when they are finished!
